Remember the Love is a collection of photo etchings created from photographs taken by Denver-based photographer Michael Rieger during the immediate aftermath of the September 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center (WTC). As one of two official FEMA photographers dispatched to New York City, Reiger spent six weeks at Ground Zero. During this time, he talked with survivors and first responders and witnessed, as he describes, “moments that most people never saw—quiet acts of kindness, resilience, and hope that became just as much a part of the story as the devastation itself.”
Remember the Love is on view at the CU Denver Experience Gallery from August 27-September 27, 2026. Join us for an opening reception on August 27, 2026, from 4:00-6:00 pm. On Friday, September 11, 2026, Michael Rieger will be at the gallery for an Open House to answer any questions about his work and his experiences as a FEMA photographer.
